Content Standard 1: The student will analyze the physical, cultural, political, economic, and the historic features of the United States.
Content Standard 2:
The student will develop and demonstrate Common Core writing literacy skills.
Skills Standard 3:
The student will develop and demonstrate Common Core speaking and listening skills.
A virtual Smithsonian exhibit. Each waterway has a historical picture as well as a short paragraph describing its importance to the US and that region. There are more teacher resources via the link at the bottom of the page that include activities related to US maritime history.

United States.
1. Identify the major landforms, river systems, and bodies of water of each major region.

A pdf to copy; students use mapping skills and critical thinking to match resources to their geographical source.
Will Rogers & American Politics -
"This interactive website is offered free and includes an area for students to explore, a photo gallery of Will Rogers' life and a password protected area for teachers that include lesson plans and additional teacher information. Teachers must register online to access these plans. Digital learning activities such as research skills and outlined technology demonstrations will engage students.
